About Dr. Steven Greif
MEET DR. STEVEN P. GREIF
CEDAR RAPIDS DENTIST
Dr. Greif is a native of Cedar Rapids, IA, and he graduated from Regis High School in 1979. He attended the University of Iowa from 1979-1982 as a Chemistry major, and then applied for and was accepted to dental school after only his junior year of college. Dr. Greif attended the University of Iowa- College of Dentistry and graduated in 1986.
He practiced as an associate in Des Moines for 4 years and moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1990. Dr. Greif is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, University District Dental Association and the Linn County Dental Association. He is additionally certified in Implant Placement and Restoration and also certified in Invisalign Orthodontics.
He and his wife Karen have 3 children, Trenton, Zachary and Jennifer.
Dr. Trenton Greif is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis who majored in Japanese Language and Culture. He is also a 2022 graduate of The Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and has finished a one-year residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. He is now the Research Fellow in Dermatology at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City and will enter the KU Dermatology residency program when his research fellowship is completed.
Zachary Greif graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Mathematics, and also graduated in 2022 with a Masters degree in Mathematics/ Computer Science also from Iowa State University.
Jennifer (Greif) Schafer also graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in Microbiology and a 2023 Graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She now practices General Dentistry in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Dr. Greif's newest addition to the family is a Wirehaired Fox Terrier named Yume (pronouned yoo-may which is the Japanese word for "dream"). Its a first for the family as, aside from some goldfish they have never owned a pet.
Dr. Greif has an extreme passion to continue to learn and his latest interest is to learn about wine. He has passed the Certified Sommelier (second Level) examination administered by the Court of Master Sommeliers in July 2014, after passing the Introductory Sommelier Examination in 2013. He is currently the only Dentist / Certified Sommelier in the world and one of only 8 Certified Sommeliers in Iowa. Dr. Greif enjoys playing golf and is a member of Golfweek Magazine’s golf course rater panel, allowing him to play golf courses throughout the United States. His favorites that he has played are Augusta National, Fishers Island, Merion, Cypress Point, Oakmont, Shinnecock Hills, The National Golf Links and Pine Valley.
He is also a Fly Fishing junkie, and looks to fish whenever and where-ever he can. He has fished all over the United States, Alaska and Canada, but still loves to fish the spring fed streams of NE Iowa.
